Most of us view our home as a haven where our privacy is almost guaranteed.

Not so for a family living in an HDB apartment at Ang Mo Kio Avenue 3, all thanks to a man who keeps peeking around their home.

And this man, according to TikTok user @Katezhuo, is not a neighbor.

Katezhuo had uploaded a series of videos on this platform showing a burly tattooed man deliberately looking into his house on several occasions, claiming that this person had been looking into their house for about two years now.

In one of the clips which was posted online on Wednesday August 3, the man, who was wearing a singlet and carrying a shoulder bag, could be seen walking down the stairs in front of the family home.

He takes a quick look around the house before going down the next staircase. According to the date and time of the video clip, the incident happened on Tuesday (August 2) around 8 am.

In the caption of the video, the TikTok user said that this man once hid near the wall next to the door of his house to peek into their house, adding that he appeared three times outside their house at 8 a.m., 11 a.m. and 2 p.m.

Responding to a comment on the video, she also said the family had confronted the man before, but “he got scared and reacted” and asked the woman’s mother why she was questioning him.

In a separate reply to another comment on the clip, the TikTok user shared that once when a relative came to visit, she got scared because the man was hiding near the wall next to her. their door.

She added that she had written a police report about it, saying “the police said there was nothing they could do about it.”

A separate video uploaded yesterday (August 4) showed the man committing the same act on June 12 last year, loitering and peering into the house through the gaps between the closed door.

In the captions of the video, Katezhou shared that the clip was taken by their neighbor who lives across from them. The TikTok user also said the man was not just passing through, nor was he living near family or looking for someone.

“He knows he’s on camera, that’s why he doesn’t dare make it too obvious,” the user wrote.

The TikTok user also expressed concern for the safety of her mother, who sometimes goes out very early in the day, as well as other family members who come home late.

“You will never know what this person can do,” she added in the video’s captions.

Many concerned netizens flocked to the comments section to express their concern for the woman and her family.

Some also made suggestions for how she should treat the man, such as sticking a picture of him in the elevator lobby or asking her husband to confront him.

And then there were internet users who said that the best solution for the family would be to simply close the door.

On the other end of the spectrum were netizens who felt the man deserved the benefit of the doubt as he may just be a nosy neighbor.

AsiaOne has contacted the police and this TikTok user for comment.

Under the Protection from Harassment Act (POHA), a person who threatens, abuses or insults (whether by behavior, words or other forms of communication) with intent to cause and has caused harassment, alarm or distress to another person, shall be guilty of an offense.

This isn’t the first time an HDB resident has complained about people watching in his home.

In another incident reported in June this year, a man, who likes to walk around his apartment naked, complained that his neighbors were going to search his home.

He also said he felt like his own modesty had been violated by them.
