Early adopters of the iPhone 14 Pro line have encountered a strange set of noises emitted from their camera systems while using their devices. Sounds described as “shaking and squeaking” seem to be the biggest problem at the moment. However, the issues only seem to appear when using third-party apps where the app uses the camera for some reason. This means apps like TikTok, Instagram, Snapchat, and even Twitter have had issues.

Users claim that the sound is concerning and makes them fear that their iPhone 14 is faulty. YouTuber Luke Miani shared his experience with the iPhone 14 camera in a clip on Twitter and there’s no doubt that loud audio is coming from the device.

Sound occurs even when the device is standing still, which means there’s nothing loose inside the iPhone 14 Pro. This also only happens in third-party apps. Launching the built-in iPhone app, users claim there is no clicking or buzzing. Here is a sample of the sound below;

Since the iPhone 14 Pro uses a new type of camera technology to stabilize its shots, third-party apps probably haven’t been updated to support this technology yet. This means that when the camera works while using TikTok and Snapchat, the apps don’t know how to implement the new camera features, which is likely causing the bug.

If this was a system-wide camera issue, users would report issues across the board. However, at the moment it seems to be limited to third-party apps.

The iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Pro range is expected to launch this week in South Africa. The devices will be released on September 23 at incredibly high prices. You can pre-order your iPhone 14 device today and hopefully get it at launch.
