Designed for National Security, GGeospatial intelligence, search and rescue applications

COPENHAGEN, January 17, 2022 – Phase One, a leading developer of digital imaging technology, today announced the iXM-GS120 aerial camera designed to meet the demanding needs of national security and geo-intelligence collection projects. Designed for use on unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), fixed-wing aircraft and helicopters, the iXM-GS120 is the first 120-megapixel resolution camera designed around advanced global shutter sensor technology.

The new Phase One iXM-GS120 aerial camera.

“Phase One designed the iXM-GS120 for reliable, maintenance-free operation during long missions in remote areas, which often characterize national security and intelligence gathering activities,” said Dov Kalinski, vice president of Phase One, Security and Space. “For traditional inspection and mapping applications, geospatial users will find the new camera captures huge volumes of high-quality imagery efficiently and cost-effectively.”

The iXM-GS120 underscores Phase One’s commitment to pioneering the development of reliable and innovative aerial imaging solutions. The single-sensor design combined with 120MP resolution ensures rapid collection of detailed information over a wide area of interest in each image, reducing flight times and improving efficiency. On the processing side, this design also eliminates tedious assembly of image scenes from multi-sensor camera systems.

The new camera is the most productive airborne system ever developed by Phase One. Incorporating a CMOS global shutter sensor, the iXM-GS120 offers a remarkable seven frames per second capture rate and wide dynamic range. High-sensitivity, low-noise technology gives the camera the ability to collect data in low-light conditions, expanding its operating window to several hours per day.

Available in RGB color and monochrome versions, the application range of the iXM-GS120 is further extended by a wide selection of fields of view for operation at many different altitudes and aircraft speeds. Compatible fields of view include a range of lenses from 35mm to 300mm.

“The iXM-GS120 was created for applications where every image frame is critical,” Kalinski said. “In national security activities, the iXM-GS120 will reliably handle long missions related to extended persistent surveillance (WAPS), geospatial intelligence (GEOINT), search and rescue, and other reconnaissance of Intelligence Surveillance (ISR).”

Weighing just 630 grams, the compact camera housing easily mounts to a wide range of platforms, including Group 3 tactical unmanned aircraft for long endurance operation.
