Realme has just unveiled its latest phones in what it calls the Number series – meet the Realme 9 Pro and its more powerful sibling Realme 9 Pro+. Both phones come with powerful mid-range chipsets, big batteries and fast charging, and the Plus builds on that with a large-sensor 50MP main camera.
Realme 9 Pro+
The Realme 9 Pro+ comes with a 6.43-inch Full HD+ resolution AMOLED and 90Hz refresh rate. It has a fingerprint scanner underneath that can also measure your heart rate.
The chipset is a Dimensity 920 with 5G capabilities and is one of the most powerful in the mid-range segment. It is paired with 6GB or 8GB of RAM and 128GB or 256GB of storage.
The highlight of the Realme 9 Pro+ is its triple camera with a 50MP Sony IMX766 sensor behind an f/1.8 lens. It’s the same sensor found in some flagship smartphones like the company’s Oppo Find X3 Pro and Realme GT 2 Pro. The other two cameras are an 8MP f/2.2 ultra-wide-angle shooter and a 2MP f/2.4 macro unit.
The selfie camera, tucked into the punch hole in the top left corner of the display, has a 16MP sensor.
The Realme 9 Pro+ arrives in three colors, but the most intriguing is Sunrise Blue. It has a photochromic layer that changes from blue to a pinkish red tint in seconds when exposed to sunlight or UV light. It only needs 3 seconds to make the change and will disappear and turn blue again in about 5 minutes.
The 4,500mAh supports 60W SuperDart charging, and while it might feel slower than the Realme 7 Pro’s 65W, it does speed up less and reaches a full charge in 45 minutes, which is 2 minutes faster. The Realme 9 Pro+ arrives with Android 12 out of the box with Realme UI 3.0 on top.
Realme 9 Pro+
The Realme 9 Pro+ color options are Sunrise Blue, Aurora Green or Midnight Black. Prices start from INR 24,999 ($335) for the 6/128GB, range to INR 26,999 ($360) for the 8/128GB, while the most expensive 8/256GB memory variant is from INR 28,999 ($385). Users can reduce the price by up to 70% from the original cost through a Flipkart-only trade-in program.
The first sale is slated for February 21 at 12 PM IST, and the phone will also be available on Realme’s website and select offline stores.
Realme 9 Pro
The Realme 9 Pro is the more affordable member of the new duo, but it surpasses its more premium sibling in some ways. The screen here has a bigger diagonal at 6.6-inches and a higher refresh rate of 120Hz, but the panel is LCD, which means the fingerprint scanner has made its way to the side, underneath. the power key.
The chipset here is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 695, and it still supports 5G connectivity. The platform comes paired with 6GB or 8GB of RAM and a single 128GB storage option.
The triple camera setup on the back includes a 64MP main shooter, an 8MP ultrawide, and a 2MP macro camera. The selfie camera has the same 16MP sensor.
Since the Realme 9 Pro is bigger than a Pro+, it also fits a bigger battery – 5000mAh. It charges at a relatively low 33W, but you still get the required charger in the retail box.
Just like its big brother, the Realme 9 Pro comes with Android 12 and Realme UI 3.0.
Realme 9 Pro
Realme 9 Pro is also coming in Blue, Green and Black colors. Prices are INR 17,999 ($240) for the 6/128 GB variant or INR 20,999 ($280) for the 8/128 GB option. The sale starts on February 23 at 12 PM IST on Flipkart, Realme .com and “stores near you”.
