Vision Components has launched an embedded vision system for 3D and dual camera applications. Based on the VC Power SoM image processing module with an integrated open-source FPGA, the system pre-processes large volumes of data in real time and transfers the results in the MIPI data stream to a higher-level processor. Other features include stereo image processing with synchronized triggering and optional disparity matching and a selection of MIPI modules. The system also has ready-to-use FPGA designs for applications such as object recognition and 3D point cloud generation. Engineers and integrators can use multiple sensors, such as visible spectrum and SWIR. The VC Stereo Cam prototype for 3D vision incorporates two Sony Pregius IMX296 global shutter image sensors. According to Vision Components, the system is suitable for a wide range of OEM projects such as people counting, volume measurement or other complex real-time calculations.
